Happy Mother's Day!!!!!

Things have been really busy these past few weeks for all of us but we felt it’s time to write again and what better topic than Mother’s Day. Nick and I decided to share sort of an interactive blog between us this week and we hope you take some time to read both entries.

            The most influential person in my life is my mom. The reason why my mom is the most influential person in my life is because: 

-I wanted to be in band. My mom made sure I was in the band.

-I wanted to play basketball. My mom signed me up for basketball.

-I wanted to do track. My mom signed me up for track when teachers in school said I couldn’t.. but I did it.

-I took drumming lessons at the age of 5. “People” said I was too young to do drumming, but then everyone said I was good at it. 

-“People” said I was too young to play basketball or soccer, but I did it.

-I want to go to college… and here I am.

All of this is because of my mom. And my mom said that I can do a lot of things if I work hard. My mom graduated school at the age of 50 and became a nurse.

She Dreams a Dream...

           Hi, this is Nick. Today, I’m writing this blog to my sister Emily. I want to wish you luck next month in your audition for Les Misérables. 

           We are a musical family. I play the drums, Nick plays the guitar, and Emily is such a good singer. We’ve been watching Emily sing for years in school concerts, and even when she was in college. She was also in a lot of plays, such as Grease, Bye-Bye-Birdie, South Pacific, and High School Musical. My two favorites plays by Emily are Grease and Bye-Bye-Birdie. These plays were played at Wallkill Senior High School. 

            I’m attaching the YouTube link for her song “I Dreamed A Dream.”  I hope you like it, and let us all wish her luck next month. Can’t wait to see the play in the summer.

I'm going to College!

Hey
      Well after all the hard work, I finally got accepted to The College of St. Rose. As soon as I got a phone call from the college I knew I was accepted. My parents were very nervous waiting for the phone call, but I think in their hearts they knew I would be accepted.Once my mom heard the good news she was hysterical crying because she was so happy. So I called all of my family members. Everyone was so excited and happy for me.
      After all, I've been waiting to go to college my whole life.

Busy Week!

                Hi, this is Nick. A lot of things happened last week. On Tuesday, my parents drove me to the College of Saint Rose. I was so excited to stay overnight. Vincent (a senior at Saint Rose) took me on a tour around campus and showed me the campus I’ll be in next September (if I’m accepted). Also, Vincent took me on a tour at the cafeteria and we ate lunch there. It was snowing, haha, but I knew it was a great day to be hanging out with a senior who is 21 and attending his last year at college. At the house where Vincent lives, everybody had a job to do, such as cleaning the dishes, making their own dinners, and food shopping.  Keep wishing me luck, because I’m getting closer to going to college.

                Friday was my senior trip to New York City.  My brother Nick and I took a bus to New York City. There were about 300 students in the 4 buses. When we got there, everyone got together to take a senior picture at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Later, we met up with Nick’s friend Jarrett who lives in Brooklyn.  Mom, Nick, and Louis met us there; we spent the rest of the day together, had lunch at Burger Heaven, and went to Macy’s. We walked around Times Square, did some shopping, and left the city at around 5:00. It was a really busy week and looking forward to the holidays.

College Visit!

         Hi, this is Nick again. I spent a great weekend watching football and going to a birthday party for my cousin Lisa on Long Island. It was a lot of fun. Tomorrow, December 10, I am going to Albany for an overnight visit at a college. I will be seeing the school and I’m excited to be staying overnight.
         Also, I want to let you know that when I first saw this college, I thought it was pretty amazing. The gymnasium was a real gym with the logo of the Knights. I thought it was pretty cool. I also saw the fitness center where people jog, lift weights, and doing sit-ups. I’m meeting with Kevin tomorrow to interview and hopefully I will be going to classes in September. I really want to go to college so wish me luck and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thanksgiving Day

                 Thanksgiving this year was a little different for my family. My mom is a nurse, and had to work, so I went to my brother’s apartment near Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). My brother coaches a high school football team and we all went to see his team play. It was a cold day, so me, Louis, and Nick dressed up in warm layer of clothes to help stay warm.

               

                 My brothers team (Sheehan Titans) won 54-7, and they called us down to the field (me and Louis). My brother yelled the letters “LZ" and “NZ” and the teammates yelled back the same letters. Lou and I got to sit in front of Nick’s football team to take a picture. Nick gave me and Louis the game ball and all the players wrote their names on the ball, and it made me feel proud to have a second ball to keep at home. Then, I went back to my brother’s apartment to watch football games and have Thanksgiving dinner. We had turkey, stuffing, baked carrots, salad, and sweet potatoes with brown sugar and cinnamon, as well as dessert. For dessert, we had homemade brownies made by my sister Emily. . .Yummy!
